Description
This course is part of the suite of courses that will prepare staff to participate in an Initial Disease Investigation.
Movement control is a critical element of disease containment during an Initial Disease Investigation, helping to limit the potential spread of a suspected disease. CFIA district office staff play an essential role in implementing movement control measures as part of the broader investigation and response effort.
This course introduces the principles and procedures of movement control during an Initial Disease Investigation, preparing CFIA staff to participate as a member of, or lead, a movement control team. Although the focus is on disease suspicion identified on-farm, the concepts are also applicable to investigations at slaughterhouses.
Key topics include:
- Deploy the movement control resource
- Determine if movement controls are necessary
- Restrict movement of animals and things (4204 and 4206Q)
- Authorize movements of animals and things (1509 Gen, 1509 Spec, 4206LTT)
