Description
This course will provide CFIA staff with the knowledge and skills required to perform their work in a way that is safe for them and their colleagues by offering standardized training on biosafety. It will also help to create an incident reporting culture to contribute to a safer workplace.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
• Identify the elements of a biosafety program. Recognize the characteristics that determine different risk group levels.
• Recognize the physical containment requirements and operational practices for biocontainment levels.
• Identify safe work practices for biological hazards.
• Recognize different decontamination methods and determine important factors in decontamination.
• Identify the best practices for responding to a biological spill.
