Description
This online course is for CFIA inspectors (and their supervisors/managers) responsible for sampling tuberculosis-like lesions in federally inspected abattoirs and through district office, and subsequent laboratory submission for mycobacterium bovis testing as per the Granuloma Submission Program Operational Guidance.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
• Describe the National Bovine TB Eradication Program
• Describe the Granuloma Submission Program and the importance of its implementation
• Identify the principal targeted tissues for TB detection
• Describe the criteria to correctly identify TB-compatible lesions
• Describe when, and when not to, sample for the GSP
• Describe how to properly prepare a sample for submission to the NRL
• Describe how to package, store and ship samples for GSP
• Describe the minimum submission performance standard and its importance
• Accurately complete LSTS submissions
• Describe how various stakeholders interact to ensure the success of the GSP
