Description

This online course will provide field operations staff (veterinarians and inspectors in terrestrial and aquatic animal health and meat hygiene), basic training in applied epidemiology for disease investigations. The course will present information on epidemiological principles, techniques and tools to be understood and used by CFIA field operations staff in the completion of thorough epidemiological investigations. This will ensure data collected can be interpreted and utilized correctly for the analysis and management of a disease incident/outbreak. This course is considered a prerequisite for more advanced training in epidemiology.

The course is divided into five modules. Each module has a review exercise to reinforce the material covered.

 

Module 1: Introduction & Descriptive Epidemiology - The Role of Epidemiology in CFIA Animal Health Investigations and Decision Making

Module 2: Applying Epidemiological Concepts in CFIA Animal Health Investigations of Regulated Diseases

Module 3: An Overview of Sampling – Why do we do it?
