This online course will focus on the Preventive Control Inspection (PCI) task type, one of the 3 inspection task types used in the food business line contained within the Standard Inspection Process (SIP).

This online course provides participants with information which describes the purpose and content of the Food Safety Emergency Response Functional Plan (FSERFP), the incident command structure that is used for a food safety issue, the communication and reporting relationships during a food safety emergency and how they differ from day to day business, the process used to assess and manage a food safety emergency.

The Food Safety Investigation Course provides CFIA employees with the knowledge and skills required to identify and respond to food safety incidents.

Participants will, in the course of regular duties, be able to recognize a suspect FAD and initiate an appropriate response including gathering the clinical history and sampling for FADs.

This online course is designed to familiarize all CFIA Destination Inspection Service (DIS) employees with the evolution and role of the DIS.

This online course will provideparticipants with a basic understanding of inspector roles and responsibilities, inspector powers and authorities, regulatory framework, enforcement options, documentation of a non-compliance and the difference between an investigation and an inspection.

This course contains examples of what could be considered violations of various policies and directives such as the Code of Conduct and Values and Ethics Code, and what suspicious activity to look-out for.
